The monument to commemorate the battle of Glen Fruin 415 years ago has been repaired and restored. The work involved the removal of most of the shrubs and trees, partly to make access easier, and partly to improve the visibility of the monument from the road. In addition, steps were built up from the road to the monument, with a handrail alongside them.

A explanatory board was also built to explain in both words and pictures the battle between the Clans.

On the 1st June 2018 this was unveiled. Sir Malcolm Colquhoun attended alongside were members of the Clan Gregor Society: Peter Lawrie, Vice Chairman; and Ross Macgregor, Council member.

This meeting was a symbolic “burying of the hatchet” with the MacGregors, 415 years after the battle, the agreed account of the battle was read.
