Helensburgh pipe band's celebration honours musicians of all ages
CELEBRATIONS were in order for members of Helensburgh Clan Colquhoun Pipe Band recently, as they gathered to celebrate the achievements of players young and not so young.
A dinner and presentation took place at the Loch Lomond Arms Hotel in Luss on Saturday, January 21, at which the organisation’s main sponsors, Sir Malcolm and Lady Colquhoun, were present.
They awarded the Lady Colquhoun Shield to Annie Ferguson, of Cove, who was honoured as the best juvenile student during the 2021-22 season.
Presentations were also made to two retired pipers from the band for their exceptional long service. Rab Butler, from Helensburgh, and Balloch’s Jim O’Hare continue to support the band and retain some involvement; for their distinguished service, they both received an engraved silver quaich and a bottle of whisky.
A spokesperson for Helensburgh Clan Colquhoun Pipe Band said: “Flowers were presented to Lady Colquhoun and Mrs Butler and a bottle of whisky to Sir Malcolm as a thank you for all the support they give to the pipe band.
“The event was so successful that we hope to hold next year ‘s presentations again at the Loch Lomond Arms Hotel – and we will perhaps include a ceilidh too.”
