Luss Estates gift Arrochar foreshore for new Jetty

A new pontoon for boats visiting Arrochar was formally opened today, thanks in part to Luss Estates Company who donated the land in Arrochar to allow the development of the new jetty.

The 50-metre pontoon was built by the Loch Long Jetty Association on a stretch of shore leased from Luss Estates.

The association is a charity launched because the local Community Council had concerns about the lack of any recent investment in the local infrastructure – there was no safe access to Loch Long in Arrochar.

It hopes the development will help stimulate the local economy which has been in progressive decline due to rural isolation.
